چکیده
Abstract The present work deals with assessment of earthquake-induced displacement the base restrained retaining walls (RW’s). A detailed and rigorous finite element (FE) investigation has been carried out following shaking table experiments on a scaled-down RW model. FE simulations were performed by conducting several nonlinear time history analyses two-dimensional (2D) plane strain model prototype RW. hardening softening backfill have simulated calibrating Mohr Coulomb material against triaxial test results. Role different into seismic performance also investigated. It was observed that cohesionless slight influence earthquake induced RW’s. Amplification horizontal acceleration in no direct correlation applied excitation. understanding findings based experiment used for development an analytical estimation validity proposed examined simulation

Seismic Analysis of Retaining Walls within Plasticity Framework
Aseismic design of gravity wall still is a more difficult issue. The reason stems from the complexity of the problem which requires skills in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, soil-structure interaction along with knowledge of structure dynamics. Designing seismic gravity retaining structures deals with both kinematic interaction and inertial interaction but almost seismic building code n...
متن کاملseismic analysis of lateral earth pressure and retaining walls
eart pressure problems are encountered in retaining walls, bulkheads, sheeting and bracing in cuts, culverts, tunnels, and cofferdams. in many cases, the lateral pressure is determined by use of classical earth pressure theories, such as coulomb's, where the equilibrium conditions of a failure wedge of soil is considered. excessive dynamic lateral earth pressure on retaining structures resu...
متن کاملSeismic Displacement Demands for Hybrid Precast Concrete Shear Walls
This paper presents an analytical investigation on the peak lateral displacement demands of “hybrid” precast concrete panelized shear wall structures under seismic loading. The hybrid wall structure investigated uses a combination of mild [i.e., Grade 400 (U.S. Grade 60)] steel bars and highstrength unbonded post-tensioning (PT) strands for lateral resistance across horizontal joints. The analy...
متن کاملSeismic Behavior of Direct Displacement-based Designed Eccentrically Braced Frames
Direct Displacement-Based Design (DDBD) is a performence-based seismic design method that has been proposed and well developed over the past two decades to design RC frame structures, shear walls and bridges. In this method, the behavior of a multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) sysytem is approximaeted by an equivalent single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) substitute structure. Although this method has be...
